INFORMATION FOR RESEARCHERS

467th Bomb Group

Regarding National Archives at College Park, MD

You should call (after 9:30 and before 3:30) the day before you go.
Call 301-713-7250 and ask for military records.
.Be prepared to give them the information necessary to fill out the
"Reference Service Slip" regarding the location of the records you desire.

Jack Gair prepared an excellent guide for giving this information. However, the Archives are planning to reorganize these records in the near future.

When you arrive (about 8:30 recommended ), the information desk will direct you to the researcher registration room to get a "researcher's pass".
All you have to do is answer a few questions on the computer located in the room and present a photo ID.

After you get your pass you will be directed to the lockers on the floor below.
You have to leave jackets, briefcases, etc. in a locker.
The locker requires a quarter to activate (returnable when you leave)

You are now ready to go back to the main floor and go through the guard gate
after showing your pass.
You will take the elevator to the second floor research center.
Check in at desk in back of research room.

They will give you instructions on procuring a card for use with their photo copy machines.
They will brief you on the handling individual folders and records.

Information Available

After checking in there, you go across the room to the desk where requests for records are submitted.
Ask for the records that you have requested to be "pulled".
You then take the boxes to one of the desks.
You should access only one box at a time and mark the location in the file the slot from which you withdraw the folder.
White slips are available for that purpose.
